    Crate training

Just got two Dakota 283 crates to strap down in the truck bed to get my boys from town to farm. We have never travelled in crates before. Can anybody suggest some steps to get the guys ready to kennel up, or do you just lock em in and go?

I would probably start by using treats to have them get used to getting up into the bed and laying down in the crates, prolonging time having the door shut. And then I would probably do some short low speed trips around the neighborhood giving them treats or bones as a distraction from the bumpy ride. I know that if I put bubba in a crate in my truck and then started to drive he would be like "Uh what is happening right now" and probably freak out a little haha.

They should probably be crate trained in the home before you pop them in a crate in the back of your truck.
