The fact that the boarding comes with training is a bonus in my eyes. I am excited to hear what a pro has to say and better both our lives. when I did the 1 hour training sessions with a pro at my home, the pro spent more/all the time teaching me. wasnt bad, but was telling me alot I already learned from here, books, etc.. I like the idea of the pro training chili and providing me feedback/homework/followups. lets see how it goes. Chili does not listen to my wife. she talks to him like a human. doesnt work. just sharing whats going on, maybe it will help others or lead to helping me and chili.
Oh no worries. Was just a question. I know you had said that about him not listening to your wife in the past. I am just back after the crash lol My dogs listen to me better then my wife as well. I hope it helps him and you. Having a well behaved dogs makes taking them more places with you a lot easier.

Several years ago my husband sent his dog away to "bootcamp" he came back a changed dog and very well behaved. It was a positive experience for him. Hoping this is a good one for you too, have fun at the balloon fest and keep us posted!

I'm curious how it went too. I considered sending Sam away for training at one point during his horrible puppy phase, but when the trainer evaluated him, she said he didn't need it. We ended up doing ecollar training with him and it was a lifesaver. I think I've heard mixed reviews about Sit Means Sit but the one we go to is great. We have lifetime group classes which have been a lot of fun and I like we work on real life scenarios instead of like his early puppy classes where we spent most of our time walking around in a circle. Saturday's class was all about polite greetings (both people and dogs) which Sam needs work on.

chili came home. he got well trained on not jumping on guests, great sits, stays, heels, walking on leash, being polite around other dogs and not grabbing random things around the house. basically he is more disciplined. they did all training with prong collar. unfortunately, it is my wife that chili just wont listen too. even the trainers were surprised by how chili acts around my wife. they provided 2 hours of explaining/demonstrating what chili learned and went over a handout/video of what went on while at training. also wanted us to bring chili back (followup) for an hour after about a week. Chili got along fine with other dogs, but since he wasnt neutered, he wasnt allowed in open play areas. They did let him swim in the pool with other labs tho.

I met a trainer that does therapy dogs/service dogs and I think once i get chili neutered I will be following up and doing this more. They said chili is a worker/high energy dog and learns quick. I was happy to hear they loved chili and will miss him(seemed sincere).

I can recommend this place, but I dont know if I can go without chili for 10 days again. I missed him. I also learned me and my wife arent the best dog trainers. but its nice to have seen chili not jump on 3 guests we had over to the house yesterday for bbq. he was perfect and such a joy to have around. I probably will do this again every 6 months.

Good for you. I sent Dallas away for 2 weeks and it was money well spent.

So glad to hear it was a good experience. When Mocha was in puppy kindergarten, the trainer pointed out to me that I was giving Mocha mixed signals. Much more so than DH. Telling him NO! then grinning when he did something cute instead of what I told him to do. I didn't realize this at all! I also sometimes feel like I have to slip into my "alpha dog persona" when he's particularly onary. Stand up straight, shoulders back, firm and lower voice, eye contact. Mocha gets this look like "Oh crap, she's serious". I don't know if this is why Chili doesn't listen to your wife, but it helped me. I must admit to being a little jealous you spend so much time with Chili.
