The pit bull should absolutely be neutered, especially if it's same sex aggressive! Knowing it's issues, I also would never allow my dog to be around it, muzzle or not.... it's not something I'd work on.

every january the city i live in offers 20$ neuters. I will strongly recommend my nephew gets it neutered. on the flipside, this pit never leaves the home w/out a leash/owner or around family. its in a loving home.

Even taking the breed out of the equation, I would NEVER want to put Maverick in that situation. There are too many risks and possibly no rewards.

I work with aggressive breeds and I'm also trained in wrangling. I had written two pages all about different types of aggression as well has how to break up dog fights, how to release bites, how and why dogs act this was, some dominance theory. It just sounded too lextury so I deleted it.

My advice - if chili doesn't need to be in the situation...then I wouldn't force it. I have no problem working with aggressive dogs. I do however have a problem with doc owners who are unable to control an aggressive dog. In my humble opinion, fighting can be curbed with appropriate training and discipline. I have proven it many times.

The more dogs fight, show aggression, pin etc. the more confidence they gain. Each fight is just raising the Pitts fight drive. Is the Pitts owner doing anything to prevent fights? Has he gotten any assistance on the issues?

the pits owner doesnt take the dog out to meet other dogs. just a walk here or there and family trips. I think its possible to get this pit better, but i have decided its not going to be me or chili that does it. I will mention to him for an aggressive dog trainer, but college students dont have a bunch of money and his mom is full time employee working lots. maybe I will buy him a 1 hr lesson for his bday.

Regardless of breed, if there was a dog that had such a strong dislike for my dogs, to the point it was aggressive towards them, I would simply not allow my dogs to be around it. It really wouldn't even occur to me to try to work on the issue. Especially since it is not like Chili lives in the same household as this dog or has any reason to need to get along with him, I would simply avoid contact.

I would never allow my lab or any dog I own to be around a pit bull that has been bred to be aggressive, never never never. Even if it's not trained to be aggressive the fact is unless you know the ancestry of that specific dog then there will be always uncertainty. Yes you can do all the training but you can never alter the genetic makeup in one generation even if your Cesar Milan.

I avoid all these dogs in the dog park and ignore owners who say their dog is a sweetheart. It's all about risk and to me the risks far outweigh the benefits in this case.
