I have a weird Newfoundland that won't swim although my lab loves to. Try putting him on lead with you in water and having him do circles around you while gradually going deeper until he swims. Stay calm and praise him and don't force it.
What a beautiful lake you're trying to get Thor to swim in! I was lucky my girl took to it with no problem so sadly I have no advice to give, but good luck!

I thought Barley would never swim. He hated being in the water as a puppy and would bark on the shore whenever we or Moby would swim in the water. Nothing could entice him in and he was not happy until everyone was back on shore. I would go hiking with a friend for long hikes and her dog lived in the water but still, Barley hated it if he was deeper then splash around and run distance. Then about a month ago, I was hiking with the same friend and her dog was swimming to the ball and the sticks etc., when Barley sort of slipped into the water and started swimming. That was it and he is now a total water dog😀 . it only took 13 months for it to happen. Thor may surprise you one day!
