I may get some grief for this from the board, but I dont leave the water bowl down. I offer water frequently and with meals but pull it up when theyre done lapping. Avoids the play, and makes it easier to potty train. Some pups drink a lot because its fun....

I got the non tipping bowls. For Hemi it is not something he grew out of. He likes playing with the bowls. The clanging sound is awesome for him.

Of course now he bring his huge Jolly ball over and drops it in the water bowl to make a splash.

No tip bowls. Just and example you should be able to get them at most pet stores.

I've never had one flip the bowl, but I have had them paddling in there with both front paws. I teach a good "leave it" anyways, so I just apply that and they get over it. Pup-to-be's momma blows bubbles in her water bowl. Breeder has sent me video of her doing it, standing there with her tail wagging away lol. This could end up being an interesting one to raise....

Maxx likes to blow bubbles too, I thought he was just silly! Thankfully the tipping of bowls and trying to swim only lasted a brief time but I am pretty sure he will always make a mess at the water bowl. I don't have the heart to stop him and my floor stays fairly clean!
