Biking

Does anyone bike with their dogs? If so, do you use a special lead for bikes or just a regular lead? Thanks.

We are currently working on it. My fiance is an avid cyclist both cross country and downhill and would like Archie to be able to go with him, but have found that a)he needs to be a better walker on leash first and b) he needs some bike conditioning.

Has Henry been around the bike much? I find the dog needs to have a solid heel, respect for boundaries, and not be afraid of the bike. Also, I won't leash Archie to go biking because he's young and I don't want to force him, but would like him to be able to go on off-leash rides through the forest.

How old is Henry? He might be too young to go on rides, but you can start working on leash manners around the bike.

Henry's only 14 months....still too young to go on forced rides. My thoughts were that I could start getting him used to being around the bike. He does a pretty good heel on lead and just an okay heel off lead. If he sees a kid or another dog, he takes off but comes back when I call him.

He's yet to even see the bike.

I'm starting with Kain. Luckily we have a huge backyard for the time being and I just put a slip lead leash on him and ride around in circles. He's getting better, we move at a very slow pace.

I used to bike with Harley, using a Walky Dog. He did very well with it.
