    Getting into the truck

I have a 3/4 ton truck sits up a little high. Well since Wyatt was a puppy I lifted him in and out. Now 6 months old and 50 pounds its getting harder for both of us.

Anyone have any tips think I might try the passenger side floor board then let him try to get down?

Bacon jumps in and out of our Truck fine, and he seems fine when jumping out of our suburban too. At first he needed some encouragement but hes now just fine.

My girls easily jump into a F-250. They land on the floor of the backseat, first.

My husband has an F150 and Mocha will not jump up into it. I lift his back paw and put it on the side rail (sometimes I have to hold it there a second or two) and say "load up" then he gets the idea and jumps up the rest of the way. He jumps out just fine. He'll jump in and out of my Mountaineer just fine.

Kain's split on the idea. Sometimes he jumps in the truck and sometimes he just puts his front paws on the tail gate until we lift him in. Most of the time with enough encouragement he gets in.

Oban is 75 pounds, I boost in and lift out. When he was up to 82 pounds I could still do it. Jeep Grand Cherokee but I can do the F150 as well. I find I can handle his whole body weight lifting out because I start standing up and go down. I don't like him to jump in as I've seen dogs slip on snow, ice or gravel on the take off and land funny and sometimes slip and not make it in at all.

One of my trainers had a client whose dog broke its leg jumping into the car. Ended a promising competitive career. I have an SUV, and use a ramp or stairs for my dogs. I'd rather err on the side of caution, when it comes to dogs jumping into/out of cars. Labs are a breed prone to joint issues, so when I have an opportunity to avoid impacting the dogs, I do.
