using oil of oregano

I have read of a few people here using oil of oregano for their dog's and am wondering the form(liquid vs. pill) and doses you have used. I use it for myself but haven't used it for my dog and I was suggesting it for someone to try. So any advice regarding this would be great~thanks.

Liquid, make sure you use a carrier, do not apply it straight. And I'd check it somewhere inconspicuous first. I just used it on a small surface wound and my dog had a severe reaction to it, ended up being a very bad burn and took ~2 weeks to heal. We had him muscle tested after the fact and he is severely allergic to it.

I stir OoO in Zoe's food (her Homemade food); 3 drops of the oil. She actually doesn't mind the taste.

I take it myself daily, 3 to 5 drops on my tough and chase it down with lots of water. Right now I'm using the extra-strenght kind that suggests 3 drops.

Two questions:
1) What is OoO?
2) I take this oil in water when I'm sick or have a sore throat, but how does this oil benefit the lab?

OoO is Oil of Oregano but I don't know what the posters are using it for.

We used it for Annie in two ways. Mixed 3 parts vitamin E oil and 1 part Oil of Oregano (OoO) and rubbed it onto her skin because of severe allergies and staph infection. It helped to knock back the infection. Notice we diluted it 3 to 1...it is VERY pungent and can easily burn the skin. Wait...maybe we did it 4 to 1? We mixed it a while ago and I forgot. But it's either 3 to 1 or 4 to 1.

The second way we used it for Annie is added directly into her food. 3 drops. It's a great anti-microbial and has been famous for helping with allergies and skin issues...which Annie has in abundance.

Here's a page that describes fairly well the benefits of OoO:

I found it in caplets. I give it to the dogs for KC, ear infections, and cuts. I haven't noticed it helping much topically - same goes for using it myself.

Well for one I can testify that it is a power punch for kennel cough. My whole crew had Kennel Cough about a month ago after we adopted from the pound. Someone sugested we try oil of oregano 2 drops twice a day inside a treat. Well in 4 days the coughing was gone...it took six days for my brat dog Riley who wouldnt always take it. I thought that was amazing since I read that Kennel Cough usually takes MUCH longer to run its course.
