    New MEmber

Hi - my name is Tina and I have a 4 month old Chocolate Lab named Jake. Have a few puppy behavior issues (or maybe they're my issues) (nipping & mouthing especially, Jake not me that I would love to get some feedback on from others that have experienced the same things......

Hello and Welcome Jake and family!

I'm not the best on puppy info as we home seniors. There is tons of information on this site, check out the puppy and training posts.

    Looking forward to pictures.

Ah, the beloved landshark phase! Labs are mouthy little devils, to be sure. And many of us have cried from the scraped arms and wrecked clothing, wondering what the heck we got ourselves into! I'll attach a link to our best thread on biting, but feel free to look around for other good info! Welcome to you and your 4 month old little demon, Jake!

Have you looked into puppy classes at all?

Welcome!! As Tanya said, the nipping, biting, and being mouthy are pretty normal Lab puppy behaviors. At 4 months old the pup is probably teething, which makes it worse. It's never to soon to start training, and a puppy class can be very helpful with some of the issues you are seeing.

There are a lot of very experienced people here who have trained many dogs to a very high level, so don't hesitate to ash questions!!!!!

WElcome to the board. Hope to see some photos of Jake soon.

I have to say, I still mouth my dog, kiss his snout and nibble his nice soft ears. Maybe I have a behavioural issue but I bet I'm not the only one.

Mouthyness is very common. Work on redirecting to proper toys and not your hands.

I told Sunnie this morning that her knee tasted like chicken.

Welcome! Typical lab behavior! The good news they outgrow it with proper diversion.
