      Hello,
My name is Josh and I'm near here. I currently have an 8 month old lab puppy that my Wife and I both love very much. I had a Jack Russel before Roscoe our Lab but he left us earlier this year at 17 years old. Any suggestions for having a lab puppy are welcome. Thanks.

Oh hey, there he is! What cuteness and orneriness lurks behind Roscoe's innocent little face? Welcome to you all!

Cute guy.he needs training. 30 minutes of training tires my lab/shepard puppy more than running 1 hr with other dogs.

Good luck. It's gets better but he needs training for aure.

      welcome!

what kind of suggestions are you looking for? Some random thoughts:
      - get into obedience classes! it's fun, it's bonding and will help you develop a working relationship with your dog. And don't stop at just one class
      - train train train, it's a party of your daily life. ensure you have rules and that you teach them to the dog (and enforce them - it is very confusing for dogs when things change).
      - physical and mental exercise are very important for labs. People often forget/skip the mental exercise but a little goes a long way. Training sessions are one example. Making them work for their meal (either with interactive toys or obedience). teach a new trick. proof the ones they know. Physical must include daily offleash free play time in a safe area (fetching, play dates, anything they are offleash). Walks are a great part of the routine (great to get off the property explore new places, see new things, smell new smells) but on leash dosen't tire out a young dog. Make sure to add some extra obedience here and there on the walk (sit, down, etc.) Be aware of age appropriate exercise (ex: on leash running/biking isn't apporpriate until a dog is fully developped/done growing - for a lab this is around 18-24 months - free play on softer surfaces are great and they can do as much as they want).
      - enjoy him

He looks like a little mischief maker but what puppy is not at that age. He is very cute. I also am sorry to hear of your loss.

Welcome, crate training is a god send! Training class for bonding purposes. Short spurts of training (mental) i.e. sit, stay etc. will tire a pup out and like two legged kids, a routine provides structure.
