I am new to this forum

I have a 13 month old black lab female. Her sire is English and dam is American. She currently weighs 65 lbs. This our 3rd lab. Being retired we have been able to work with this much more than the other 2 and I will tell you the training in the beginning really pays off. We started our first training class at 9 weeks of age. We proceeded to enroll her in 2 more 8 week sessions and have been reinforcing the training at home and in the park. She hands down the best behaved dog we have owned. We are enjoying her because we can take her with us. She is great with our grand kids and is good with other people. Best of all she does not bother us at meal time. She is not a counter surfer. It has been a lot of work especially early on but Cassie is paying us back in spades. She still has to work on the lose leash walking. What I have found with this dog is that they need a lot of daily exercise and respond to training because labs are very eager to learn.

Hello and welcome! Cassie sounds like a great girl!I guess when we're younger and busy with work and young kids, training our pups is lower on our list of priorities. You're all lucky to have more time to spend with her in fun and training.

“Because of the dog's joyfulness, our own is increased. It is no small gift. It is not the least reason why we should honor as well as love the dog of our own life, and the dog down the street, and all the dogs not yet born. What would the world be like without music or rivers or the green and tender grass? What would this world be like without dogs?”

Welcome! I find with labs (any dogs!), the more time you put in, the better of a dog they are!
