      Back after several years

It has been at least 10 years since I had any news or comments to post. Life has been great, and been staying busy with Hank our Yellow Lab. That was until last Friday, June 2, 2017. Hank had been on the decline for awhile, but suddenly we found ourselves having to have the talk with the Vet regarding Quality of life. Seeing as how Hank was 13 years old, had arthritis in his rear legs, cataracts in both eyes, and a sudden nose bleed that was on and off, we decided it was time to let him go to the Bridge.
Having been together since we adopted him from the Rescue in 2006, I knew we were very close and he was a special member of our family. I had no idea how badly he was going to be missed. Coming home from shopping on Saturday, he wasn't there to announce our return, so he wasn't there to greet us either when we walked through the door. All weekend long, I could hear his claws tapping lightly on the wood floors. I could hear him pawing at the back door to be let out. Yesterday morning I could hear him breathing in my ear, letting me know it was time to get up and let him out.
It has always been tough when our dogs have past, but this time has been the worst. I am so glad that my wife did say that she can't imagine not having a dog in our house. I know it may seem that by discussing a new dog, would seem to some that we would be replacing Hank, but that cannot be further from the truth. The new dog will help to fill the void, but Hank can never be replaced in our hearts.
So, I went online yesterday, and completed an application to be accepted as adoptive parents for a new pup. The rescue has a gorgeous silver lab that is beyond handsome, and seems to posses some of the traits that I have always admired about the silvers. Please wish us luck on our application, hopefully everything will go smoothly and we can try to fill the hole in our hearts that was left when Hank went to wait for us at the Bridge.

Welcome back. I'm so sorry to hear about Hank...it's always so hard to lose a beloved family member.

I hear you about thinking that waiting might be an option...only to find out that that's seriously hard to do. I made it almost a week before stalking PetFinder and eventually ending up with Sunnie (and one of her hitchhikers, Danny).

We look forward to meeting your new pup and having you back.

      Rest in Peace, Hank...Run Free!

      Welcome Back.

So, so sorry to hear Hank has passed. You were blessed to have him in your life abet not long enough. As I have heard, humans live long because they have to learn to love, dogs are born already knowing how to love.

No way would any of us think that adopting so soon is trying to replace Hank. We know that is far from the truth. You honor Hank by adopting another. Wish you the best on your application. Just remember, the right pair of brown eyes is out there waiting for you.

      My deepest condolences.

Yeah, no. That's not about replacement. You can't replace your boy. Just give another one a great chance to have a great life in your home. Take care.

I am terribly sorry for your loss

Everyone is different on when they bring in a new dog, some need time and others get another right away, both are perfectly good ways to do things.

Goood luck, the right pup will fall into your hands soon!

So very sorry about your loss of Hank. He had a wonderful life with you, and you with him. Run free young man.
Good luck with your rescue and I pray that he may bring as much joy into your lives as Hank did.

So sorry to hear of letting Hank go to The Bridge. It is the most loving thing you could do for him when he needed it the most.

I agree with all the others. When the time is right, your heart and home will be filled with another to take a place in your heart.

As you can see by my sig picture, I had to take action after 19 days-it sure helps all around when there is another to fill the void of an empty home.

Rest gently and run free sweet Hank.
