Sounds like quite the adventure! Welcome to you all!
In March 2014 we were looking for about three acres in the foothills of Albuquerque, New Mexico. We came upon a property that was way, way underpriced. We learned that the previous owner had passed, and had had three dogs, a Golden, a Lab, and a German Shepherd. The price was low because the previous owner had wanted the three dogs to stay together on the property. The needs of the dogs were financially provided for. The RESCUE people of all three breeds Vetted us.
Still for people who had not had dogs since childhood we saw a major challenge, but we also realized that taking the dog, and property renovation required a big challenge. So, now Teddy, 'Dogkisser,' Fritz, my spouse and I feel like we live in a television Sit Com, and we would not change it for the world.
Sounds like quite the adventure! Welcome to you all!

“Because of the dog's joyfulness, our own is increased. It is no small gift. It is not the least reason why we should honor as well as love the dog of our own life, and the dog down the street, and all the dogs not yet born. What would the world be like without music or rivers or the green and tender grass? What would this world be like without dogs?”

Welcome!!!

MODS, thanks for getting my dog's name corrected. I accidentally put in my name instead of our dog's unusual name, "Dogkisser." The previous owner aptly named him due to his plentiful sloppy kisses. We did the RESCUE in March, 2014 after his owner passed.
You definitely get it. We are the servants of our dogs. When we tell people socially that we must go home to let our dogs out, it is a partial lie. We just want to spend as much time with them as we can. In fact we are becoming ant-social with humans. We would not change a thing!!
Welcome to the board. Is your avatar the lab your Dogkisser? Which are Teddy and Fritz, GR or GSD? We'd like to see them too. Lots of people here have more than just a Lab, some not a Lab at all.
