Can you find an orthopedic vet/orthopedic surgeon specialized in that kind of stuff VS a regular vet?
Did you do 10-14 days of full rest? on leash walks only, no play no jump no run?
he STILL limps even on metecam?
Really need some advice please.we have a beautiful dog called Arthur who is our whole life.over about 6 months he has developed a limp on one of his front legs. We took him to the vet who gave him Metacam but it didnt do much good,am very reluctant to take him back because he charged £236! Also Arthur goes mad in the vets with pleasure and in all honesty the vet cant do a proper assessment. It doesnt seem to cause him pain,he still walks up and down stairs and wants to chase balls whilst showing no sign of discomfort but in general padding around and on walks he is limping noticeably. I have given supplements to Arthur to help with joints and mobility.the strange thing is that the limp goes from bad ti being barely there-and just when I get excited that its improving-he starts hobbling again.
I would be grateful for any advice-i should add that Arthur is a chunky labrador but not overly over weight.

Metacam is like Advil. It sometimes doesn't remove the pain fully. But it can be expensive. You will need an xray. do you have an ortho vet in your area?

I'd take an x-ray, see where's the problem and what's the cause. At his age it's usually arthritis. It would do him good to lose some weight.
