Welcome to the forum. There is a lot of information here about puppies that you should review before you get you puppy. Look in the puppy corner on the home page. Good luck and when you get one, we LOVE pictures!!
Good luck in your search. The Pacific NW has several really good Labrador clubs, and there are some excellent Lab breeders in that area. If you do your research ahead of committing to a puppy, you can certainly get a well-bred Labrador in that portion of the country. Puget Sound LRC is a great resource: Puget Sound Labrador Retriever Association | Promoting the All Around Labrador. One of the forum members here, WindyCanyon, is a member of PSLRC. She would be a great resource for your area. I have several friends in PSLRC and Rose City LRC: About our club who could help you with local breeder referrals as well. Feel free to PM if you'd like.
Labs, due to their popularity, are sadly overbred and most Labradors produced in this country are poorly bred, not bred to the standard, and not bred for any purpose. If you are looking for a Labrador puppy because you want a dog that has the classic temperament of the breed (friendly, biddable), has appropriate structure (which contributes to overall orthopedic health, and ability to work in the traditional manner of the breed), then you really owe it to yourself (and the breed) to get your puppy from a truly responsible heritage breeder whose breed pairings have been cleared for all heritable diseases and who compete in one or more venues in order to receive independent assessment of how well their dogs conform to what a Labrador should be and/or exhibit various skills that showcase the proper temperament and ability of the breed.

Welcome to the board!
Thank you dxboon. Correct on all points except one little teeny tiny picky thing.... it's PSLRA, lol
There are a lot of nice litters either on the ground or coming w/ fellow members. Please do your homework! I also do rescue thru LRC, Inc, and believe me.... we know who the creeps are too. Feel free to pm me if you wish, and good luck! Anne
