    New Member and Lab Mom

Hello everyone. Wanted to introduce myself, my name is Audrey and I am waiting on the arrival of my new girl, who we are calling Stella. We have 2 more weeks before we bring her home. My husband and I had a beautiful Rottweiler girl, Bella for 8 1/2 years. Bella had to be put to rest due to kidney complications and a development of pyometra. Jeff and I were devastated. Our love for Rotts is deep and we would have loved to rescue one needing their forever home. We have 3 grandchildren under 4 years old, so we just felt that was not a good option for our situation. With the help of many friends, some of which own labs, we decided to work with a lab breeder to make sure we were getting the right pup for our family, and here we are.

I come here looking for breed specific training issues, help - health, etc. I know all dogs are different so I have an open mind and will love to read all the advice as well as your stories on your fur kids. Thank you for allowing me to be part of the lab community. I look forward to staying around for many years.

Welcome! I came to this board similarly - a few weeks before picking up my first lab puppy and I had no idea what to expect! There are great resources here that will help you get through the puppy stage because oh boy they can be a handful. Somehow I managed because I now have another one. My 12 week old is currently in puppy kindergarten with a rottie and they are great wrestle buddies.

Welcome to the board and sorry to hear you lost sweet Bella. Happy to hear your are getting a new girl, Stella and that you ended up here. The board is a wealth of information and when needed support. Check out the different forums we have, especially the 'Puppy Corner'.

Also, we do love pictures, so if you could talk your breeder into taking some, we would be thrilled.

Hi Audrey and welcome! We've had 2 labs and they are lovely dogs. I have 2 young grandchildren and with all your young grands, I'd just let you know ahead of time that lab puppies can be very mouthy and nippy in an exuberant puppy way. Look through some of our puppy information so you can be prepared to manage the nipping if it pops up. They come home just lovely little angel puppies but it isn't long before they start checking things out with their mouths, just like human babies, except human babies don't have razor sharp little teeth. We look forward to seeing more from you and Stella, especially photos!

Welcome! I have two labs, 5 and 18 months. My sister lost her 11 yr old rottie back in April. I tried to talk her into getting a lab puppy but she has a very deep love for rotties so her and the family got another...now 14 weeks old. Can't wait to see new pictures of the puppy!
