      Question Recommendations?

While I know this may be a contentious request, perhaps it will fly and I've been struggling for some time so tho't I'd risk it... Please, private messages are welcome/requested!

You may have read my other thread and know we're a family on the verge of getting a lab puppy. We're struggling with whom to contact, hoping for direction from you all. There are so many..!

We are looking for a litter born in early November. We figure the planning is probably starting now. I am retired but still working part time until Jan 2019, so don't want to get a puppy until I'm available 100% of the time. Obedience training needs consistency and time. I'll be up for that come January.

We are looking for a family member, I don't hunt. But, we are very active, hiking, fishing, outdoors every chance we get. A 'Field' lab is preferred and a Yellow male is also what we're looking for. We are in Oregon - so BC Canada south to northern California works best for us.

So, can we get your recommendations for breeders to contact? You guys are more plugged in that we are!

      Thanks, Mark

Breeder recs need to go private. I have a couple thoughts off hand but you are correct, breeding would be happening soon (Sept) as gestation is 63 days (9wks) for your preferred timeline to happen.

That all said, field lines usually belong to folks who enjoy hunting, so you will need to strike it lucky there to see if someone is giving up their fall/ winter hunting season to raise puppies.

I'll see if you are able to receive PMs but if not, contact me as there are a few field breeders in W. WA that do all the clearances etc. If they don't have litters planned, they may know of someone who does. The other thought I have is to get up to one of the hunt tests in Carnation WA this month (8/11-12, 8/25-26) and talk to folks there. Anne

A wrap-up for those interested. We've committed to a puppy from Sunnyview Labradors. A litter with a tremendous heritage came to be and there's a black female available. We are thrilled!

We've chose Jetty as her name. She'll be 8 weeks in mid-October.

      Pretty excited around here :-)

The wait torture begins. There is already a Jett boy on board. And my first black Lab girl was Jet. My girl was named for the semi-precious, black, glossy gemstone, jet. Jetstone Jewel. My grandmother had a jet necklace. What's behind your name choice? Is it part of her registered name?

      Oops! I was off. She'll be 8 weeks ~mid-Nov...

Jetty isn't official yet. I fish and so Jetty is the nautical type :-)
