She's a cute one! Sometimes the photos flip- none of us have figured that one out. I love how her toes look like she dipped them in sugar! Welcome to the Lab Board- what's your girl's name?

“Because of the dog's joyfulness, our own is increased. It is no small gift. It is not the least reason why we should honor as well as love the dog of our own life, and the dog down the street, and all the dogs not yet born. What would the world be like without music or rivers or the green and tender grass? What would this world be like without dogs?”

Her name is Tessa. I saw her photo and knew right then and there that she was a Tessa and i had to have her. I think she is lab mixed with something i do not know what. Generally i don't care since she is really sweet and funny and is keeping up with me when i go and hit the trails (mainly to keep her active, not so much for my benefit.). The rescue i got her from was told her and her litter mates were GSD-Saint Bernard Mixes. Presently she is 44 pounds and gaining at 2 - 2.5 lbs a week. Glad she is not going to be Beethoven huge, not that it would have mattered either. The rescue is placing rescued dogs and pups of all breeds to a local prison with inmates trained as dog handlers. there they learn commands, get housebroken and get socialized. A great program.

My sister got her dog under a similar program in Pennsylvania- it is called New Leash on Life. They rescue dogs from high kill shelters and the dogs live with an inmate and are trained. Her dog, a lab/pitt mix is a sweetheart.
