As long as you are able to keep him off the ground in dog areas you should be fine. I wouldn't miss the opportunity for socialization at such a critical age. And I sure wouldn't leave him either.
Hi! I have never been on a forum before, so I am excited to learn about everyone's great ideas! My husband and I have two black labs - an almost 13 year old and an almost 10 week old. My husband just bought a small RV and is excited to take a two week trip. I am worried about it with the puppy and the vet does not like the idea as he is not through the series of shots. Any suggestions?
Thank you!!

Thank you!! Yes - we will be super careful with our boy. Do you mean socialization with regard to new smells - new places and new terrain? I think he would really love that! Already at 8 weeks he was fearless - up and down the stairs with our old pup without hesitation, all over the yard. I am new to puppyhood - so I am reading obsessively about everything. Our Moby is very well trained and super mellow - so this is all new to me.
I have to agree with the vet too. With him not being fully vaccinated I think you will be playing a game of Russian roulette and taking a chance of him getting sick.
IMOP I'd be worried about him getting parvo.

Having him able to meet lots of people would be my goal. I humbly disagree with the idea of Russian roulette if you pay attention and are super careful. I am not suggesting you let him romp all over, common sense goes a long way. Keep puppy in your arms as much as possible and carefully scout potty areas.

Socialization is very important. I would take the pup but be careful about where you go. Clearly no dog parks. We took Hudler camping at 12 weeks, up in Sonoma near the beach somewhere (too long ago to remember exactly), it was fine.
Unless you are leaving right now, chances are the pup will have had a chance to get his second vaccination by the time you go anywhere. I wouldn't hesitate.

At certified canine, we rarely ever allow a puppy under 14 weeks in our kennel as we always require certain shots. I would always be VERY cautious as to what dogs he comes into contact with. I would try avoiding them. Have fun and be safe!
