Hi and welcome, Oliver is adorable! Enjoy the calm, some are just born that way. My Maxx was a fairly laid back puppy but I have had the exact opposite in Lab puppies previously. I love them either way. My best advice, enroll in a puppy socialization class ASAP, the sooner the better. It was one of the best things I ever did. And try not to stress so much. Dogs are very intuitive and the best traits you can have with a Lab puppy are lots of patience and consistency. Both will take you and your puppy on a wonderful adventure together!

Welcome! In labs you don't have to fear the 2-3year age bracket, this is when they start to mature and mellow. It's around 6-8 months up to about 2 years that can be challenging.

    He's adorable!

Really? I've always read that most Labs take longer than other breeds to mentally mature. They stay puppies for a long time until around 3-4 years of age although, as noticed on the board, many do calm by 2-3 years.

I do think most Labs take 2-3 years to fully mature, at least every one I have had has. I do think the first 12-18 months are the most challenging for many and it gets better and better from that point on, IMO. Of course there are always exceptions, my last boy was a crazy puppy until a few days before he suddenly died at 8 y/o. Maxx, on the other hand, was born mellow and well behaved.

Agree! Halcyon you misinterpreted my post...I was responding to the OP with a new puppy saying she was fearing the "terrible twos" rather than be aware that the crazy times are from day dot and from around two years onwards things start to get better (not worse).
