A new member and new Lab owner

Hi, my name is Terrie. I am a first time owner of a beautiful Chocolate Labrodor Retreiver. Anyway we picked him up yesterday. Our first night was fine as he slept with us and had many potty breaks. I plan to put him in the crate for about 2 hours this afternoon so I can run get some shopping done. I don't want to leave him in there to long at first. Anyway, I can't wait to meet you all and see some pictures of your babies.

Welcome to you and your little guy! When doing crate training, start doing it in short bursts, and make sure each encounter is positive. When we first got Bacon, we played in the crate, ate meals in the crate, praise when he went in, etc. Good luck with your new pup, be sure to visit the puppy section for lots of good threads!

Thank you. I have another dog, she is 2 and crate trained. We got her at a very young age and she has not once pottied in her crate and loves it. It is her safe place lol. We are hoping Jager is the same way. He hasn't pottied at all in the house and we have had him him a full 24 hours now.

Hi and welcome. Jager is a real cutie, and it looks and sounds that he's one smart boy. Fingers crossed for successful crate and potty training.

Welcome Jager. I hated the crate training. Wanted to play with my little guy all the time. The bonus of how great he is now, outweighs the few hours a day i didnt get to play with him. He now has free reign around the house while we're at work, yet I still come home to find him napping in his kennel.

Post more pictures when you take them :-)
