As someone mentioned make the kennel a fun place. Our vet suggested a couple teaspoons of plain vanilla yogurt at bedtime. It keeps them from getting hungry & won't start their digestive process. To this day Mocha gets a couple table spoons of yogurt at bed time. He runs to the kennel at bedtime. Give you pup treats I his kennel.

We leave the tv on when we go out. We find they get into less trouble. For some reason the enjoy the cartoon network the best. I have read lots where leaving a radio on helps for various reasons such as blocking outside noises.
    Thanks Everyone!!

    1. Feed the pup in the crate. Put the bowl all the way in the back so the pup has to go all the way in.
    2. Sit outside the crate, and toss bits of food or treats into the crate so the pup will associate going in with food.
    3. Once the pup goes into the crate and the door is closed, you don't look at or talk to it. If the pup fusses, whines, barks, etc, and you give it attention, you just rewarded the behavior, and the pup will repeat it.
    4. When you arrive home, don't talk to or look at the pup for a couple minutes at first, increasing the time as the pup gets older.
    5. If you have a hot water bottle that can't be chewed through, wrap it in a towel that you have rubbed on your body so it has your scent, and put it in the crate with him. It will give him something warm with your scent to snuggle up to.

I know it's tough, and it can really grate on your nerves. Trust me, in a week or so, the pup will settle into the crate, as long as you make it the happy place for him.

It might sound strange but we put a big white stuffed bear in the crate. The pup snuggled with it and even though Ruger is older now, and he no longer snuggles with it,he still likes it in the crate. Just ensure that nothing on a stuffed animal can be chewed off and ingested.

I mentioned hanging a bell on the doorknob. But I never ran into Ruger turning it against me! It worked like a charm for me. Sorry it's not for you!

Rocky always gets his teddy bear at bed time. doesn't play with it much in there, but likes to have it and brings it out in the morning.
FYI; after going thru a few stuffed animals from walmart; I've had better luck with these:
Pet Supplies : Dog Toys Indestructible : KONG Teddy Bear Dog Toy, Medium, Brown : Amazon.com
