Hello! Just wanted to introduce myself to the forum. I just got a chocolate lab puppy last week, he's almost 10 weeks old. I had labs growing up, but Bubba is the first lab I've raised on my own.
Of course I did plenty of research prior to getting Bubba, but everything is different once you have your new pup in your house! It's been a tough week, but despite it I'm head over heels in love with Bubba and knew it was going to be a long road. My boyfriend is less so and has more of a case of the "puppy blues" and is wondering what we got ourselves into.
My biggest worry is about developing bad habits. Even though he's young, I'm always thinking "is this normal?", "am I doing this right?". He starts puppy classes next week, but right now he's a very cute spawn of the devil. He doesn't know his name, never comes when called/I try to get his attention (and does not do the normal puppy following me around), eats and chews everything in sight including my boyfriend and me, and has a huge vocal attitude if I don't immediately give him what he wants. Actually probably the only thing that's going great is house breaking!

Welcome to the board! Sounds like a very typical lab pup. Our first one (he's almost 2 now) was named the Spawn of Satan until he got neutered at a year old... you're not alone!
haha yep sounds like a lab puppy to me. Don't put too much pressure on him to know commands or his name. Start with one thing at a time, I start with sit. Get him on a lead and tell him to sit and push his butt down and pull up on the lead and eventually he'll sit then say good and give him a treat. Eventually you won't have to push his butt down and a little tug on the lead and saying sit will get him to sit. I use hotdogs as treats, they're cheap and the dogs love em. Also short training sessions when he's this young, 5minutes.

Not only does it help with potty training but it also helps with those "puppy blues" by giving our minds a break from wondering just what in the world is that puppy up to now!
