I think consistency is the most important thing when it comes to teaching a puppy anything. Pick one method and have everyone stick to it, every single time. If you give it at least a week of all working together and things are not changing at all, move on to a new method. It can be frustrating, fortunately a puppy learns quickly all though it may not feel like it at the time. If you have a family member or friend with a female that you know is fully vetted set up play dates. They are great at teaching/reinforcing bite inhibition.

Same with potty training. As soon as they wake up, after a play or training session, after eating and what feels like, (and sometimes is), every 20 minutes or so in between, head outside and when your puppy goes, throw a party! Lots of praise and favorite treats, s/he is the smartest, best puppy ever!
