Welcome to you and Luffy!!!! I have two Labs that I imported from the UK. I've known and been friends with their breeder for over 30 years.
One piece of advice I'd give to you in training recall (come) is to never call him unless you can immediately enforce the command. With Bruce, I'd always have treats, and every time he'd come to me, whether I called him or not, he got a treat, and we'd have a party. Even now at 17 months old, I always have treats in my pocket, so when I call him, I'll still give him a treat when he comes to me and praise the heck out of him. I'd say he's about 99% on recall at this point.
What part of the UK are you in? My daughter and son-in-law are stationed at RAF Lakenheath right now. We lived in the Cotswolds from 1984-1989. I was just over there back in March visiting my daughter, and my friends. Went to Cruft's on Gundog day. I'm hoping to go next June for The Lab Club Championship Show.
Hi and welcome, Luffy is a cutie!
Be careful of flower bulbs in your garden, many are poisonous to dogs. Some dogs like to swallow rocks as well which can result in an obstruction. I know I spent much of outdoor time with any of my puppies digging various, often yucky, items out of their mouths. They are truly lucky they are so darn cute and turn in to such amazing companions, with the proper training.

What a sweet little pup .
Greetings and salutations to you and Luffy! The bushes in our yard got some serious "trimming" by our older dog as a puppy also. And he got a trip to the emergency vet after hoovering up a good amount of small gravel from a walkway when taken out by one of my helpful kids. They can learn not to do it, but, as you've learned, you can't take your eyes off them for a second! It sounds like you all are off to a great start but even the best made plans go awry sometimes. We look forward to hearing more of the Adventures of Luffy & Co.!

“Because of the dog's joyfulness, our own is increased. It is no small gift. It is not the least reason why we should honor as well as love the dog of our own life, and the dog down the street, and all the dogs not yet born. What would the world be like without music or rivers or the green and tender grass? What would this world be like without dogs?”
