Welcome and hello from a fellow Ohioan. Looking forward to pictures of the little chocolate bundle of fun!
I just adopted my first lab puppy, Bailey(my parents had a lab while I was growing up). Looking forward to the new adventures and challenges she brings! We are working on potty training and simple training. We have tried walks, but only makes it two houses down and runs back to my yard. Any advice about this topic or other things I should monitor are greatly appreciated!

She's still young. It won't be too long before she's brave enough to go much, much farther. Do you have her on a leash or is she just following you? Lots of little pups will sit and refuse to even walk or try to back out of their collars. Tell us what you've tried so far and maybe we can come up with some ideas to try.
There are lots of folks on here who can give good advice on a range of topics. Welcome to you and Bailey!

“Because of the dog's joyfulness, our own is increased. It is no small gift. It is not the least reason why we should honor as well as love the dog of our own life, and the dog down the street, and all the dogs not yet born. What would the world be like without music or rivers or the green and tender grass? What would this world be like without dogs?”

Hi and welcome!
How old is Bailey? I never even attempted actual walking on a leash outside of my own yard until my dogs were through their puppy shots, around 16 weeks.

Hi and congrats on puppy .... enjoy the puppy time ..
A puppy doesn't need leashed walks until much older. You can practice at home. It's also personality. My 2 pups are about 15 weeks now. The lab pup will go anywhere on a leash. The griff pup is a little worried about the leash and doesn't like walks.

Hi—
I also didn't try to take my pup (now 17 weeks) on a walk until... well, I still really haven't (she gets final shots today). I've taken her out a bit (arboretum, university campus), but little pups don't need walks. She gets lots of exercise in the back yard for now.
Enjoy! The littlest days go so fast. My little pup is already looking like an adolescent.
When she is off leash, she ventures into neighbors yards. She has a mind of her own off the leash. To the earlier poster i have tried getting excited about the walk and given the loos leash a couple shakes with the words, "Bailey Come On" "Let's Go", but to no avail a lot of digging in and sitting.
Another item, how can I teach a puppy to catch in her mouth? Frizbee, ball, treats, toys? Most of my dogs have just done it, but right now she just lets it fall.
Maybe give it time? Mine did right away when I brought her home (about 7.5 weeks), but I think that was just her drive—she loves to retrieve. Others here have suggested playing with toys in front of their dogs, dragging them back and forth, etc. It may not come until she gets a little older, as I understand it. But I am betting it will come!
