New here, but not new here.

Hi all. I was a member here a few years back because I had a lab/golden mix who didn't seem to fit in anywhere, so I came to the lab forum. lol. She looked like a lab, though, so she fit in better here. We lost her back in August at 14 1/2 after a tumultuous year of health issues. She went through two bouts of Vestibular Disease and in between the two bouts, she developed Canine Cognitive Dysfunction. We were able to get that under control so she stopped pacing, digging and barking all night long and we were so happy that we got almost another full year of time with her before her rear end just gave out on her. She was tired and she was ready to go. We miss her terribly!

A couple of weeks ago, I saw an ad on CL for a female black lab puppy who was 12 weeks old (no papers). The girl who bought her got both her and her sister (a chocolate). She also had a 10-12 month old baby. I think she was just overloaded with all those babies in the house and decided to find a new home for the black lab puppy. My husband and I had met several other pups in the weeks leading up to this, through rescues, but none of them touched our hearts. We drove almost 2 hours to meet this pup and both of us were taken with her immediately and she came home with us. She was super shy, under socialized, but very, very sweet. That was a week ago yesterday and we've found that she's actually 15 weeks old, we've gotten her her second set of shots and got a clean bill of health from our vet.

She's a great fit with our three golden retriever boys! She's amazingly gentle and not the least bit mouthy or chewy. I've had lab mixes my entire life and goldens or golden mixes for 25+ years and have never had one that didn't do some biting or chewing in the puppy stage. I'll post pictures later, once I get enough posts built back up.

    Her name is Nova.

Not certain on the number of posts, since some folks seem to be able to get around the usual rules on that. Don't ask me how, I haven't felt like figuring it out. Anyway, welcome back! I'm sorry to hear about your old girl. It sounds like she had a good, long, well-loved life with you. Welcome to Nova and we look forward to seeing you around more. Was your name fostermom before? It seems familiar.

“Because of the dog's joyfulness, our own is increased. It is no small gift. It is not the least reason why we should honor as well as love the dog of our own life, and the dog down the street, and all the dogs not yet born. What would the world be like without music or rivers or the green and tender grass? What would this world be like without dogs?”

Great pics of beautiful dogs. Really sorry for your loss, and welcome back. Nova is a real cutie and it's cool that she's not a labrashark as from I learned here, most of them probably are. However, although I don't know about Lynn whom I got when she was almost six months old, Mel was a real darling pup. M&M

    Hello and Welcome Back!

Pure bred, mix, maybe, kinda lab, all are welcome here.

So very sorry for your loss. It's so hard when their bodies wear out and no matter what we try, we cannot fix aging.

Nova is a cutie. Bet socialization will move along very well with all the guidance she will have from you and her new fur family. Keep the pictures coming.

    Rest In Peace Sweetie
