    Dog ate sock!

My 2 year old crazy pup ate a ladies ankle sock Tues night, it is now Friday morning and has not passed it. He seems happy, plays, goes for walks, eats and poops! During the night last night I think he threw up the sock but he gobbled it up so fast I couldn't get it. Do I need too tart worrying yet or wait it out?

Induce vomiting with hydrogen peroxide or CALL THE VET!

Talk to you vet. Good luck.
Regarding vomiting - that can work but my vet once told me to be careful as things can get stuck on the way back up.

I would induce vomiting, although you always need to worry about it getting caught on the way up. My 5 month old swallowed half of a tennis ball. We brought him to the vet a few days later and they were able to induce vomiting due to the fact it was too large to pass into his intestinal tract. Keep us posted!

My Cassie has swallowed ladies socks and knee hi's many times. Most of the time I didn't know it until it reappeared from either end. Some came out whole in her poop and others were barfed up whole in the middle of the night when her stomach was empty of food and I guess it wouldn't digest. She seemed to outgrew this (knock on wood) as it's been awhile.
So my advice is to relax, but to watch for any signs of distress or abnormal behavior. The sock may have already been passed and you just haven't found it yet.
BTW- this is why I have health insurance.

I'd at least call your vet. My older boy has eaten socks several times but he developed an obstruction one of those times, requiring surgery. I learned to give him hydrogen peroxide if I had seen him eat the sock and knew it was still in his stomach. Call your vet and see what they recommend, now that several days have passed.

“Because of the dog's joyfulness, our own is increased. It is no small gift. It is not the least reason why we should honor as well as love the dog of our own life, and the dog down the street, and all the dogs not yet born. What would the world be like without music or rivers or the green and tender grass? What would this world be like without dogs?”

At the very least, call your vet. An obstruction is not something you want to mess around with.

    Please keep up updated.

Socks, underwear, pantyhose, underwear, socks, pieces of shoe insoles, plastic dry-cleaning covers, bits of ice-cream cartons, underwear, socks, shoe laces, stuffing from pillows, underwear, rocks. socks, zippers from pillows...

99% of the time it comes up or goes through. That's the good news. When it doesn't come up or go through, you get signs of obstruction. That's not altogether bad news, in the sense that the symptoms are not immediately fatal. The dog throws up and can't hold down water or food... you are in for some surgery more than likely.
