    New guy from West Michigan

    Hi guys,
We are getting Max, our seven week old black lab, next week. This is our second dog. The first being our English Springer Spaniel Daisey. Daisey is nine years old. We are excited to have another dog that our children can grow up with as their own. Daisey and the children pretty much ignore each other.

I'm hopeful to use Max as a hunting companion and a part of our family. We already have his crate setup and ready to move in. We have a blanket with Daisey's scent for Max to lay on. Leash and collar, chew toys and food dish.

I trained Daisey pretty well. Looking forward to learning the differences in the breeds. Is there an advice that you have for me? Major differences?

    Thanks.

Welcome! What a cute little guy.

You might want to check out this thread from another expectant "parent," as you may share some questions:

    Pre-puppy paranoia

Also, your breeder will be a great resource for food, possibly tips for a trainer, etc. I can't overemphasize the importance of early and consistent training.

Welcome from a former Michiganian... (SE part of the state). I'd be willing to bet that your Lab will be easier in many ways to train, though potentially a naughtier puppy, lol. You are in for fun times ahead! Anne

Hi Anne, why would you say easier? Because of the breed difference or past experience of having a dog already? Thanks fir the welcome.
