Ok. I've now looked a bit more into "Silver Labs", i think i'm going to go for either a new yellow or chocolate girl. There appears to be some debate about the silvers and other dilutes.

I used to come on her a lot. Rosie is now 11 years old, and I'm thinking of getting another puppy as Rosie ages. I'm thinking "silver", which i'll investigate here, a bit.

Welcome to the board! Thank you for taking the time to research the colors
It's SO nice to see someone research and decide ahead of time against silver. Good for you. Welcome to the board. How about a photo of Rosie and some information on her?

Hello and Welcome!
So glad you did some research. It's not just the "color" that you would get but could also be a lot of health issues as silvers are not bred by reputable breeders.

welcome!
regardless of the color you want to ensure to find a reputable breeder that carefully plans litters, and does all health clearances on both parents (unfortunately labs are so overbred willy nilly they are prone to many health issues. luckily you can do tests on the parents to ensure best outcome in the puppies by choosing those who pass). we can't name breeders but don't be shy to post questions (and people can private message you as well with details).

I'm very happy you were able to ascertain the board's feelings regarding silver labs, since there really is no such thing as a silver lab, just unscrupulous breeders who prey upon people who do not have the knowledge to know it's all a scam, and pull money from their pockets, with them thinking they purchased some rare and unusual lab.
Good luck in your pursuit of finding a good breeder!!!
Good for you in bypassing a "silver Labrador." Really, any breeder that is advertising fad colors (such as silver, champagne, charcoal, merle), using incorrect terminology (such as white, polar, arctic, golden), or seems to be mostly focused on color to the exclusion of other attributes should send up red flags, or give you pause to investigate more deeply. There's a link on this board about looking for puppies: Asking About Breeders or Where to Get a Puppy
The more time you spend upfront, and the more research you do on breeders before you look at puppies, will be time well-spent. There are tons and tons of Labradors bred each year, but most are not bred by the kind of reputable breeders that produce good examples of the breed.
oh i didn't notice you were in Toronto! (I assume ontario canada). I've been researching breeders for a future puppy (far future haha) of my own.
