For me it is RAW (only) and LR 1.4 (I want to upgrade to 2.0)
RAW is like working with a Digital Negative. It gives you more freedom to correct and edit. I began learning on film, but can't stay in a darkroom. For me RAW gives me the freedom to work my photographs into my art. |

I think it's important to point out that while RAW allows more latitude in processing, it does not allow you to make a silk purse from a sow's ear. If the image is poorly exposed, it's poorly exposed whether RAW (or NEF for Nikon users) or JPEG.
You absolutely want to get it right in-camera and not rely on RAW to bail you out. If you're dependent on high speed, then jpeg offers you better throughput. If you're shooting for publication and on deadline, jpeg is the way to go--again, important to get it right in-camera--as it allows you to go straight from the camera to upload without having to convert. RAW is great. Don't get me wrong. But choose it for the right reasons. |
