In a word.......... DAMN.

Jacob's 2.5 year appt was today. He got some vaccinations as predicted. What we didn't predict was his size/weight. Jacob's always been large for his age, but proportional. He was 9.5 pounds at birth but the pedi always said he'd average out by 2.

Well that hasn't happened. Today he is exactly 2.5 years old. He is 38.5 inches tall, and 38.5 pounds. That places him squarely and SOLIDLY in the 95th percentile for both categories. My wife asked him if we should be worried about his weight and the doctor said absolutely not - he's heavy but very proportional to his height.

I'm scared. He's gonna be able to kick my arse by age 10. I used to think maybe it'd be nice to have a QB but now I'm thinking..... defensive end? This kid could be a monster

mine were always off the chart for both weight and height. Thinking my 2nd at least will be a football player too. Can you say Tennessee?

Zachary is getting to be a chunk, but the pediatrician says he's so off the chart with his height too, so be cautious, but don't worry. He turned 5 in July and is 74 lbs!!!!

Let's see some pictures, Ray. I haven't seen the little guy in ages.

My mom used to say you could double their height at age 2 1/2 in order to find out how tall they'd be as adults. So that would make Jake ....um....6'5".

As the mother of two teenage boys, both over 6' tall, let me just impart this bit of advice: Milk gets expensive, just buy a cow.

To note, both of my sons were always off the charts for weight and height. My 17 year old is 6'1" and around 145 lbs. My 16 year old is 6'3" and about 170 lbs. Tall, skinny young men who came from a chunky babyhood!

Me too! My oldest has always been around the 85 -90th percentiles...my youngest hovers in the 98th percentile for height! No kidding. My 7 year old's pinky finger and thumb are as long as mine! He used to have a matching weight percentile -but now he's long and skinny -his weight has slipped down to the 75th

That's awesome! I just looked at all of his pictures, and he looks just like his mama. He looks proportional, which is all that matters. My oldest has always been off the charts in height, and in the middle to the bottom in weight. He's now 2 inches shorter than me, wearing size 9 men's shoes, and he just turned 10 (and he's only 75 pounds lol). Someday he'll grow into his feet...maybe...I hope.

I wouldn't be worried at all, he looks fantastic (and soooo cute!). You'll have to start working on his linebacker training.

I know what ya mean. My oldest daugher (just turned 11) and she was 10 pounds and 3 ounces!! She was 23 1/2 inches long.

She has always been off of the charts, so don't worry. He will even out. My daughter is 5'4 now and is a twig. Tall and thin. She only weighs 100#.

It is interesting to watch them grow.

My son was the EXACT same way. He was born at 10 pounds, 15 ounces and was 23 3/4 inches long. When he was about 7 months old, he was so chubby, had 3 chins, and his wrists and legs looked like they had rubber bands on them.

At around 3-4, he got real tall and skinny. Impossible to find pants for!!

At around 12 he stopped sprouting up and starting sprouting OUT. He got chubby again, had a double chin, and would NOT swim without a t-shirt on.

Today he is 14, weighs 120 pounds and is 5'10" tall. He's nothing but legs, legs and more legs. With a shirt off, he looks like I starve him to death.

It's amazing how they change.
