Nice video and recall, Barry! Good boy, Brooks!
    sitting on the whistle
I'm also a whistler (without fingers - I can't scream, but I can sure whistle loud) and our past and current dogs come to my whistle. My Dad taught me to whistle when I was a little girl...I knew it would come in handy with the dogs.

Thanks for sharing that video! That is really awesome to see you guys in action. Impressive that he stayed down while your other dog walked right by him. He was totally focused on you the whole time.

Do you normally work that many sits while you walk, or were you just doing that for demonstration purposes?

That was just for demonstration. If we walk for a half hour, I'll do 3 or 4 sit whistles. Sometimes I'll call him back, others I'll just let him sit until I've walked past and then I release him, or I'll release him from a distance. I'll also do "down" at a distance using hand signals.

The sit whistle comes in very handy when there is someone else coming down the trail towards us when we at the local public park that has a path through the woods. If someone is coming I give him a sit whistle, having him sit until the person walks by, or I'll call him to me if there is a dog with the person. if I don't do this he will mostly likely jump up on the person, and since I don't know the dog, I don't want it in a position to engage with Brooks.
