    Westminster Masters Obedience

We didn't compete this year (I had a ton of fun doing it with Chloe last year but she is retired and the yellows aren't yet eligible) but I did go to watch yesterday. Linda Brennan and her Lab (Heart) went High Combined and thus took home the trophy - they had to win it 5 years in a row to retire it and she did. Petra Ford's Lab (Zeal) won the Utility class (my friend's Golden went High in Trial out of the Open class - Linda and Heart were 2nd in both) and there was a nice working Lab from Indiana as well, so the breed was well represented at one of the top Obedience venues again this year. So fun to watch all the great teams competing.

Thanks, I wondered why the trophy got retired. I must not have been listening closely enough when they were discussing it during the conformation shows. Do you know if there are videos online of the obedience sessions? I think I've seen Heart online before.

They've said from the beginning that if the same person won it 5 times they would retire it .... they just never expected the same person to win it the first 5 years in a row, LOL. We're all speculating on whether they'll bother to keep offering it in the future ... sure hoping so.

I don't know if they are still available on-line ... apparently the whole streaming thing was done differently this year and there were lots of problems. Most people I know who were there seem to have them on their Facebook pages but you'd probably need to be friends with them to see them. Not sure if you can get it otherwise :-(

She had thought about it but decided to try to retire the trophy. She's still been showing her, but honestly Heart has lost a step from where she was a couple years ago. Not sure how much more she's planning on showing her - she has her Welsh Springer she's putting a UD on, and also just got a new Lab puppy so ....
