We had our first foray into trialing together last week. though in a very different way.
one of the canadian rally organization had a virtual trial last week. They give the course on the sat and you had a week to record and submit your run. Sounds easier than it really was We got two legs for a novice title. The third run was good but I managed to turn the wrong way making it a NQ ;P Doh! We also did three back-to-back team runs with her friends the Aussie. Three q's there so yay!
Since she is AKC registered I plan to do the AKC virtual trial as well.
we also did our first dock diving competition (it was arranged to be covid friendly, no one watching - in fact it was just me and two judges outdoors) but she did not jump. She is getting close but we need to keep training to build her confidence.

Was it a special course for a dog under 18 months? When we did rally dogs under 18 months could not trial, for worries about damage to their backs. If I remember correctly the jumps and weaves were thought to be back culprits. That was CKC and it was a long time ago, 1995.

There are no weaves or jumps in rally novice. it's all sit-down-stand and direction changes (and walking around cones)
no special courses.
