    Diggity in agility

This video is from about 8 months ago and the trainer I am using was having us focus on his biggest challenge, which is his distraction of other dogs. She brought in a couple of tolerant dogs and some trainer friends to help out. He is able to focus on training with other dogs in the ring for only so long, then he goes over threshold and runs over and tries to jump on them and play. At one point in the video, you can see his hackles go up and I was worried he was being aggressive, but she said it was excitement. Since then, he has IMPROVED so much and is doing all of the agility obstacles, including the bridge, the teeter, and the weave poles (still not fully lined up, but close.) I’ll try to get another video and post one of these days.

This is a 5-minute video, but there are some highlights in here, such as after he breaks focus and jumps on the other dogs, he is very quickly able to refocus. My trainer is amazing and I love when she takes him and does runs with him and I get to watch / video how she does it!

He is such a goober. My trainer says that his “butt hackles” are similar to humans getting goose flesh when we’re excited.

We should be thankful that we're not the ones getting butt hackles. I bet they wouldn't be nearly as cute on us.

He looks like he's having fun! It's great that he's toy motivated. Our trainer kept trying to get Stormy interested in a tug toy but she's "treats or nothing"!

Diggity is WAY more treat motivated and it took many sessions with the trainer to get him somewhat toy / tug motivated. She works magic on him. I could never get him to be interested in toys.

She also has the patience of Job. When he runs off to jump on another dog, she never gets frustrated at him. She just calmly goes and gets him and puts him back on track. And that border collie is her dog, who is also extremely patient. All she does is snarl and snap at Diggity when he comes flying in at her. Diggity is obsessed with that dog. One day, I hope he realizes the snapping means “back off Buddy!” We joke that it is like the Pepe Le Pew show.
