    So many ads

So many ads have been showing up through the body of the threads now. There used to be what I'd call a banner ad but now there's an ad in every couple of posts throughout a thread. Is this something new? Am I so accustomed to seeing ads everywhere that I'm just now noticing it? I posted this, went back to find a thread in which this was noticeable (Ursa's Vet Visit has 4 posts and an ad at the beginning and end of labsnewfy's post) and I find there's an ad at the end of my own question here. What gives?

    And now it's gone...

“Because of the dog's joyfulness, our own is increased. It is no small gift. It is not the least reason why we should honor as well as love the dog of our own life, and the dog down the street, and all the dogs not yet born. What would the world be like without music or rivers or the green and tender grass? What would this world be like without dogs?”

Yeah, I've noticed that too. Big annoying adds.

So the board is now running a deficit every month.

I was running a different setting to optimize ads. I did not see the ones you are talking about only different ones at the bottom.

I think I have dialed it back but give it a day or two.

If not let me know again.
    Thanks Everyone!!

If that's what is needed to keep the board running, then I'm OK with that. I just didn't know if this was the result of some nefarious act.

No, they are still there. This is the second post I'm looking at this morning and there's one right after Smartrock's second comment, for me. Not at the top as with the first post I read this morning. The one I see here is black and yellow and says Keyword REsearch Course. Do we all see the same ads?

On this thread right now I've got one for "Shop Flamingo" a do-it-yourself facial waxing product and The Ridge, an RFID blocking wallet "designed to streamline".

I noticed recently when I hit thanks on a post an ad pops up. Not a big deal but at first I thought I was clicking on an add link by mistake.

I believe I turned them off so that they should not be appearing in messages unless you are not logged in.

Give it a bit to update and let me know.

As far as ads go there are generic ads and ads that show based on sites that you have visited or searched for in Google. This is not a tin foil hat conspiracy. I am logged into my Google account so if I search for pet food I will see pet food ads etc. Google is not hacking your computer they just know what you search for as does any other browers.

If you choose to use and ad blocker then that is your decision but it is all part of signing a death warrant for small independent type sites such as this one that rely on advertising to survive.
    Thanks Everyone!!
