Your Dog's Microbiome- Latest from The Science Dog

There was some recent discussion of gut health, or at least a supplement that a former member raved about for promoting gut health. Here's an article that talks a bit about your dog's gut microbiome.

“Because of the dog's joyfulness, our own is increased. It is no small gift. It is not the least reason why we should honor as well as love the dog of our own life, and the dog down the street, and all the dogs not yet born. What would the world be like without music or rivers or the green and tender grass? What would this world be like without dogs?”

Interesting article. Also had some good links to raw feeding, which I do for Diggity. Thanks for sharing.

    Great read!! Thank you
The gut acts as the major immune system from birth on, so it makes sense to do what we can to foster a great gut biome for our dogs. I use an amazing probiotic, and start my babies on it as early as just a few days old (day 3 and every few days-once a week after.

I am so sorry, I haven't replied before now. For baby puppies I use the paste, for older puppies and adults I use the powdered formula.

Interesting. That is the same one my breeder uses too. I think it used to be called Caninotic.

I used it for awhile and had a couple of really helpful discussions with Tom about it. Super nice guy and was very informative about why it is the best one out there. Not sure why I stopped using it, but you’re making me think about it again!

I switched back to Caniotic and Diggity is doing fantastic on it. So glad you reminded me of it! Thank you!
