I got bite by a pit

I went to a big bbq on Sunday and I got bite by a Pit mix on my finger all the way to the bone. Some people suck and the owner of the dog has no intention of covering my medical costs..Its going to take a long time to heal but fortunately it missed tendons and other important things.

Oh no. Your dominant hand? Was it overly enthusiastic play? Or aggression?

Here in ONtario, Canada that bite would be reported, by the Doctor who treated you, to Health of Animals and the dog would be quarantined for rabies. Will that happen where you are?

The owner, neighbour, of the cat who bit me did not offer to reimburse me either. We have OHIP but I did have a small bill, time and driving expenses. After the cat got out of quarantine it was right back at my house the same day. Yes, some people suck.

It was aggression I was about 5 feet away from the dog . It was on a long line. If I had been any closer it would have gotten my whole hand. Yes unfortunately it is my predominant hand. It has been reported the health dept called me yesterday to tell me that the dogs shots were unto date. I have to go get my dressing changed everyday at the doctor. they are being super cautious because the potential for infection is really high. Parts of me want to get a lawyer involved but it is a small case and not sure if one will take it on. I am also not sure I want to bring all that stress into my life. Depression has started to set in as I have a lot to do and no way to do it. On top of all of that the person near the dog was proclaiming that it was friendly. This is a breed I am just not a fan of and my bias towards them is just growing. Im just glad Molly was not with me.

I'm sorry to see that. You'd think they'd at least cover what your insurance doesn't. While I was writing this I see you responded to Snowshoe. I hope you heal up without any issues, what an inconvenience!

All they did was go get a report.

I heard back from the surgeon and he wants to wait another week to see what it looks like. He feels it is healing ok. So good news for now.

I'm really sorry to hear this. I hope the surgeon still thinks it's healing OK.
