It’s been quite some time and I’ve been very busy. My gang is doing well. Gauge celebrated his 12th birthday last month. Time has flown by and it makes me sad but he’s actually doing great for his age. He has some muscle wasting and lameness in the back end and I started him on myos(game changer) dasaquin and carprofen and he’s running in the yard climbing the stairs and can jump on the couch and bed again.
I lost wiggles to cancer last Friday.
I finally quit my job of 23 years and will be starting a new less demanding job July 1st. The new owner wanted me on call 24/7 and to work holidays and weekends I’m getting way too old and I was way to stressed. Need to focus on me my mental health and physical Heath. It wasn’t an easy decision but the best for me at this time.
Hope everyone is well. I’ll post more later.
Sorry about Wiggles. Nice to hear that gauge has responded well and is a happy boy. Congrats on prioritizing your mental health!!
It's great to hear from you! I'm glad Gauge is doing well. I'm not familiar with myos, I'll have to check with Dr Google. I'm sorry about Wiggles, it's always hard to lose one of our puppers. I do not recall what your job was and I should probably not go down the rabbit hole on my computer of re-reading old posts. However, it sounds like it was very demanding and you do reach a point where being available 24/7 so someone else doesn't have to gets old. Good luck with your new job. Thanks for checking in!

“Because of the dog's joyfulness, our own is increased. It is no small gift. It is not the least reason why we should honor as well as love the dog of our own life, and the dog down the street, and all the dogs not yet born. What would the world be like without music or rivers or the green and tender grass? What would this world be like without dogs?”

Welcome back. I am sorry to hear Wiggles is at the Rainbow Bridge. Good for Gauge, I'm going to look up Myos too. Isn't that the name of a Greek God? Or somebody? Gee, been hearing stories from all over of bosses taking advantage these days, pushing for more. Good you are able to leave that, you must have liked it to stay 23 years.

So sorry for your loss. Glad you were able to make the job change. I did the same thing about 15 years ago, and it was the best thing I've ever done for myself. Hope it works out well for you!
I was a kennel manager at a vet. It was a family owned business and I had the same boss for 21 years. My schedule was always M-F 8-5 I wasn’t required to work holidays or weekends and whenever there was a call out or an issue they took care of it and respected my days off were my days off.
2 years ago they sold the practice to a young guy to keep it family owned but he is super young he wanted me to handle the whole boarding facility myself be on call 24/7 work holidays and weekends and work til sometimes til 10 pm. The last straw when I started looking was him telling me I couldn’t go to my sister in laws bridal shower bc I didn’t have coverage back in the kennel. I went anyway and left the new girl by herself. It was just getting so bad and the kids these days call out for everything and anything. Last week I had a girl call out bc she had bad sunburn.
