    Starting to look

Well the time has come where we’ve been thinking about another lab. Gauge is going to be 13 and tho he’s doing well I know it takes some time getting from a breeder especially if you want a specific color and gender. I have picked two breeders that were recommended. They are both about a 12 hour drive so not too far. They show in multiple venues have all clearance’s ect ect. Any questions I should specifically ask them? Both have contracts about neutering and waiting until about 2 which I’m totally fine with. I have good references. I always worry about getting from a breeder only because I have so many dogs and they don’t know me and how I am. I tried a lab rescue before Benelli and I was told no bc I had 5 dogs. I have a huge fenced in yard got glowing reviews from the vet and friends and family but still got denied for that reason only. Not in any rush or timeline just wanted to develop a relation ship now.

Hey, Good to see you! Sigh, it's hard to see our friends on here getting older. A previous member's dog died not so long ago and she was debating what the right time would be to get a new pup or get to know some breeders and asked the same questions about contacting breeders. BTW, they'll be picking up a new puppy in the next couple of weeks! Rather than repeat stuff, I'll put the link to that thread because several people responded. It's exciting to contemplate getting a new family member. Good luck with your search.

It is not the least reason why we should honor as well as love the dog of our own life, and the dog down the street, and all the dogs not yet born. What would the world be like without music or rivers or the green and tender grass? What would this world be like without dogs?”

Yes, check out the posts about a new puppy from MyBoo, lots of the same things you will want to know. With you on the multiple dogs and being refused by rescues. I tried the same thing when Oban died, of old age, and think it was because of all the cats here. Plus, I did not want to lift 68 lbs in my old age, and most dogs were either BIG or really small.

12 hours is not too far to drive? LOL

Well I wouldn’t be driving so that is why lol but I don’t like the looks of any of the labs by me except one breeder but they want 5000 I’m ok with the max being 3000 is that about the asking price it’s been so long since I’ve gotten from a breeder like 17 years with my shelties.

    Good luck with your search!

I hear you on Gauge turning 13 years old, inwardly you start to worry a little even though he is doing well. We have the same with Ursa, who is 13.5 years old.

12 hours is not too far to drive? LOL
I did LOL. And we're complaining about driving 45 minutes each way to Loua's breeder, ha ha.
