    Gauge and little update

I don’t check in as often as I used to but thought I would send a little update. Last week when I was running late I forgot to lock the baby gate in the living room. When I’m at work the dogs are locked in the living room so they stay out of trouble. Gauge a few years ago opened my kitchen cabinet and ate a 12 pk of heartguard. When I got home he ate half a 17 bag of K/D for my foster dog. He proceeded to throw up all night.

I took him with me to work and we did X-rays just to make sure he wasn’t bloated. He was coming due for bloodwork so I said let’s just run it now. Good thing I did his ALT didn’t even read and his bilirubin’s were elevated. Took him to specialty hospital and got an ultrasound done. Thankfully it didn’t show cancer. Just some aging and inflammation. Gallbladder had small amount of sludge. He’s on Denimarin and Ursodiol and adore beast liver tonic. I also put him on a fresh cooked liver diet. He’s not acting like anything is wrong. Still eating everything. The day this dog stops eating something is seriously wrong. We have to recheck bloodwork in 2 weeks. Can’t believe he’s 13 still likes to keep me on my toes.

Hope everyone and pups are doing well. I will keep everyone posted.

Ps. I’m loving my new job been there a little over a year now and as scared as I was leaving someplace I worked at for 24 years, I have so much more free time and making the same amount.

Oh Gauge! Driving your parents nuts. Glad he's doing better.

Sadly most of us "regulars" are getting long in the tooth and I guess Life is getting in the way it seems.

Hi! I haven’t thought to check in for a few years now - something I did daily before.
My Polly is still going strong at 14 and a half and Daisy is 10 in a couple of weeks! Daisy has liver disease too and is on the same meds, but I haven’t heard of “beast liver tonic”. Is it beneficial for Gauge?
They always have the puppy mischief inside waiting to pop out when we least expect it!

Oh no, that was a scary time for you and Gauge! Hopefully he keeps eating, but not things he shouldn't eat.
Nice that you're enjoying your new home and job! Stay happy!!

I am really glad he is okay. I can't decide if I am surprised Gauge ate all that and I decided I am not. What a lab.
