Many of you may remember Mike Enright, known here as the IRISHWHISTLER. Sadly Mike passed away a little over 5 years ago, leaving behind his wife, two daughters, and grandson, and his two Labs, TRAD and MAC. TRAD was the sire of MAC and also sired my youngest dog, SONG. I got a message from a mutual friend letting me know that TRAD passed away from bloat on Tuesday, December 30, 2025. He was almost 14.
TRAD was an amazing dog, and Mike did a great job chronicling his training and all of TRAD's accomplishments. Master Hunter. Upland Hunter, and HRC Finished retriever. I had the pleasure of training with Mike and his dogs on many occasions, and very much enjoyed watching TRAD and MAC work. It took me several years to convince Mike to repeat the mating that produced MAC, which finally happen and its how SONG came to me.
Mike's loss hit me pretty hard, and I take great comfort in knowing I have a piece of both him and TRAD in SONG. In my heart I know TRAD is once again walking by Mike's side, just like it should be.
I'm so sorry to hear about TRAD Berry. I remember all the posts you and Mike about TRAD's achievements an amazing dog.
I'd like to think Mike and TRAD have reunited and having a go at it up there!
