He tolerates the foot soaks, by getting lots of scratches and loving to pass the time. He doesn’t like the soaks, and he is definitely stressed while we do them, but we do what we can to lessen his anxiety.
We soak all four paws at the same time, he would never manage us doing one at a time
Thanks everyone for the good thoughts
A friend of mine has to soak her dog’s paws most nights because of allergies and she uses something like this that she smears peanut butter on:

Just a caution with something like this.....
I know that my Sunnie was weird in many ways, but I still feel the need to mention this. I'd bought a couple of the tongue-cleaner things for dogs...same basic thing except that I was holding it instead of sticking it on the wall. The dogs loved them. Problem? Sunnie developed obviously painful tongue cramps and I had to stop using them. If you decide to get one of these, maybe keep that in the back of your mind to avoid something similar.

Thank you bmathers and Sundance, he is doing pretty well with the soaks, heading to the tub when asked for his soaks
I have emailed pictures to his vet this morning with concerns about the pustules and looking for a diagnosis as I don’t feel that it’s a contact dermatitis as he hasn’t been walking on anything new - been in our yard and the house. The swelling in his right leg/paw continues to improve, the antibiotics are doing their job with the infection, but he has several open areas now on his paws![]()
This afternoon I have noticed a pustule on his right elbow![]()
The Vet still says contact dermatitis, I’m just getting concerned he is going to have open areas all over his body and be a walking magnet for continued infection..... Am I being overly concerned?? I feel like I’m driving the Vet crazy with updates and my worrying
I'd be concerned...second opinion time for me. Those don't look like the contact dermatitis pustules I've seen in the past and the swollen leg and advancing pustule would really worry me.

I would also be concerned. Has Dozer had any recent blood work? I would seek another opinion perhaps with a specialist.
Yeah, that sounds concerning that it's continuing to spread despite the antibiotics. Your vet probably hates when people turn to Dr Google, but sometimes what choice do you have? I looked up "dog sores on mouth and feet" and found this but of course, I have no idea. Sounds like there can be many causes.

No recent blood work, not since he had his urinary issues when he was much younger.
I am frustrated, I spoke with the Vet Tech and sent in a picture of the new pustule/bump on his elbow and they emailed back with “there isn’t much else to do. Keep up with the soaks and antibiotics”. I received a second email that offered pain medication or something for itch, and mentioned possibly extending his antibiotics, that’s it.
I contacted a Dermatologist and they need a referral to see him, and I don’t know how to go about a second opinion.
I been brainstorming with my family and have come up with a few details that we feel make up a bit of history to what’s going on
1) In February while I was away for a few weeks Dozer had a breakout of open areas around his mouth, I didn’t see them and they had almost resolved when I got home, so we didn’t worry anymore about them.
2) Dozer had white, dry, patches noted on his elbows around May this year, at his checkup in June the Vet saw them and said they were callouses. His appointments was delayed due to Covid
3) Dozer developed white patches on his paws within the past few weeks, which again we thought were callouses seeing as they looked like his elbows.
4)Pustules and bumps break out on the white areas on his paws, hair loss also noted along with swelling of the right paw and right leg up to and above the wrist. Vet diagnosed him with Cellulitis and Contact Dermatitis this weekend
5)Pustules continue to open on his feet, as do the areas where the white callouses were
6) Pustule noted today on his right elbow in the white patch
Is this all related, I can’t be sure, but a diagnosis of contact dermatitis doesn’t sit right with me
So sorry for venting, but thanks for listening, I appreciate it
