    Question Red and Sore testicles

My dog has really red and sore looking testicles. I was wondering if any one knows what may cause it or how to help it heal. The picture doesn't show quite how red is it. He is eating and drinking fine. We did just get hit with a blizzard so maybe it is from salt?
    Thanks in advance!

Is the skin open and sore there, or just a lack of pigment?

It's not like a cut. But he usually had hair and it's almost like a burn. So it sore but not bleeding nor has it bleed.

Sorry, no ideas here. A vet needs to see him.

    Sending good thoughts.

In the mean time till you can get him to a vet I would at least put some vasaline on them and keep him from licking it off. Hoping its nothing serious.

My dog had a sore, red scrotum one time after he'd been lying on a wet concrete floor. He was being boarded at the kennel we've used for years, he was still at the age when he'd tip his water bowl over and rather than lying up on the raised bed in his "room", he'd lie on the wet floor where his scrotum was in contact with the floor. That's all we could think might have caused it. Nothing else became irritated but he developed a superficial skin infection on his scrotum that required antibiotics. He never had it again. He had to wear a cone for a few days to give the area a chance to dry and not be licked non-stop.

“Because of the dog's joyfulness, our own is increased. It is no small gift. It is not the least reason why we should honor as well as love the dog of our own life, and the dog down the street, and all the dogs not yet born. What would the world be like without music or rivers or the green and tender grass? What would this world be like without dogs?”

Thank you everyone! I took him to the vet and he had an infection most likely caused by the salt or by some other irritant and as he continued licking it it became infected. He is on antibiotics for 21 days. And it also turned out he had yet another ear infection (which he gets regularly even with ear cleaning once a week).
