Well, 1900 miles almost exactly from Reno, NV to Giddings, TX. Lordy it's a big country. But we made it. Only stopped by police once. (Crossed a middle line. Got a warning. Very nice Deputy.) I was exhausted when I got in, but set my alarm so I could wake up early and get to Marsh Dog Kennels to watch the baby dog do "force" to pile. I use the quotations because it's hard to "force" a pup who is running flat out to the pile and running hell for leather back with a bumper. I watched about 8 or 10 similar pups her age and level of training run the same drills. They all did the work. But there is just something in little "Yella Fever's" radar eyes when the trainer says "Dead Bird", and she locks on like a heat-seeking missile. She's gonna be something special. She's a Cosmo granddaughter so, I think the breeding is turning out true.
Ram Jet Rocket Dog is just running so hard and doing so well. I thought she was at her peak when I left last September, but she's orders of magnitude better now. She might be the best dog on the truck right now.
Most of the "big dogs" on the truck used the wind to come up with the memory bird, squaring the terrain and flaring the middle bird. But Rocket Dog ran straight through the middle mark and front footed her memory bird. She ran her blind without a whistle.
Can't wait to see how both girls do this spring. I also can't wait for spring to hit Central TX in full. Blue Bonnets and Indian Paint Brush and all the other wild flowers, plus all the little new born calves being dropped. It's pretty special. Lots of water has fallen and all the tanks are full. So we're anticipating each new day.
Nice to see you back!!
