Farmina protein percentage

I've tried Pro Plan, which my breeder feeds her dogs, but it gave Lido pudding poo that never got better - same thing with Fromm Gold Large Breed Puppy (went through two bags before giving up). He's now on Royal Canin, and he's developed nasty eye boogers and itchy ears (shakes his head often). I'm hoping that it's the chicken and not the grains. I'm considering trying a lamb based formula before giving up on grain inclusive kibble. I really wish grain free was okay, because he did fabulously for the short period of time he ate TOTW Wild Prairie Puppy - very frustrating.

I would not feed a food with 42% protein to a growing puppy....it seems way too high.
