“Because of the dog's joyfulness, our own is increased. It is no small gift. It is not the least reason why we should honor as well as love the dog of our own life, and the dog down the street, and all the dogs not yet born. What would the world be like without music or rivers or the green and tender grass? What would this world be like without dogs?”

He looks like an Oscar to me........
I don't know how people name their dogs quickly! I want something that's easy to say, that is pretty cute and not completely obscure but not on anyone's Top 25 Dog Names lists.

Oscar. Yeah, definitely an Oscar........
It is certainly difficult to pick a name. It takes me a while to come up with what seems like the right name and it doesn't hurt to get to know your pup a little before landing on the right name. Henry's AKC name is (kennel name) Sanderling Endeavor. Sanderling because we vacation there and every lab of ours has had that in their name. Endeavor because he was a new project, so to speak, and Henry because he's our 8th dog, Henry VIII, get it? Lark's name was (kennel name) Sanderling Escapade, an escapade being an adventure or "a bit of a lark". Does the breeder want the kennel name in his registered name? Do you have a favorite book, character, or place? I would just mention that Max, Charlie, and Finn seem to be very popular names for boy dogs in this neighborhood, Chloe or Kayley popular for girls. One woman names her dogs after Shakespeare characters, Puck and Verona are her current 2. My sister likes to name her pets after characters in children's books, Sawyer, Baloo, Charlie (and the Chocolate Factory), Skippyjon, and Poquito Tito. Just throwing out some things to consider, especially if you want to kind of follow a theme in naming them. I'm guessing this little guy won't be your last.
Oh no - I typed out a long reply and deleted it somehow
Oscar only won't work because I'd call him Ozzie and that's my friend's kid.
Escapade is charming - we had an Escapade (horse) born here in 2020 and her owner calls her Essie. Lark is so clever!
Kiddo's registered name is Hightest Angel's Share - his mom is Devil's Cut. Hightest is the kennel name and Angel's Share was too perfect with his mom's name. So we are leaning toward Johnnie for his "call name" (in horses we say "barn name").
What a cutie! I keep going back to your board name - Toad. Love it! Or you could call him Cutter.
