    Worms

Loua has discovered worms. YUCK! We have several dig holes in our back lawn from her trying to find worms, but her favorite place to find them is in the perennial flower bed - which is fenced off with a low fence - which she jumps over, and then takes the worms to the lawn, plays with them and then rolls on them. It's disgusting to watch, but all the while Loua is smiling. I just spent the last hours scrubbing the sidewalks of muddy paw prints and making the fence higher. Ugh, what we don't do for our puppies!

There's nothing girlie about Loua, she is definitely a tom-boy!

Danny used to like to roll on dead earthworms when he was a puppy. I was so glad that proved to be a phase.

LOL, well of course, not the worms I first thought of. Not the same worms either but perhaps they are as good to eat as the mealworms I hear may become the next world food source? For people, not birds. Yup, dried mealworms in your grocery store.

None of my dogs have ever focused in on worms. Lark right now is keeping busy looking for cicada nymphs, or at least excavating the holes that are appearing all around our yard, particularly under the maple trees. I found a dead garter snake on our patio yesterday that looked like its neck was broken/crushed, if you can imagine a snake having a neck. I don't know if one of my dogs did that or the guys who mowed and did a little yard work yesterday, but both dogs made a wide path around it when they went past it before I spotted it. I was happy and a little surprised, since Lark will eat most other dead critters she finds. Henry is more discriminating when it comes to edibles or playthings. I also allow him a couple of digging holes to lie in and drop his balls into when he's finished chasing them. Yes, we do indulge their interests in funny ways sometimes.

The thought of Loua hopping over the fence to indulge her passion for worms is hilarious. That little scamp!

Oh this brought back memories of having to defend my plants from Molly when she was a puppy. My cat is the one that digs for worms then torments and kills them. I hope this is just a phase.

Yes, I hope it's just a phase with Loua. She also tortures them, and then proudly walks around with dead worms hanging out of her mouth. I told her that worms have an important roll in the soil and to leave them alone...but Loua isn't a good listener yet.

I had to laugh at your comments, and glad that Loua isn't the only meanie. And no thanks, Snowshoe, I won't be eating mealworms!
