    It's been a year/Danny

I tried to post in my original thread and can't. So....

It's been a year. It doesn't seem possible that Dan's been gone that long but I did finally stop "seeing him" in so many places/situations. I still get a pang every time we run into someone with a dog....it's not that I miss having a dog so much anymore, it's that I'm reminded of just how much I miss Dan. I have never experienced such an all encompassing sense of loss before with a pet and, frankly, probably only experienced it once with a human. (my father died when I was 6 and circumstances made that even harder for me than should have been appropriate)

I miss you so much, my little fuzzy.

I like to think Dan and Sunnie are doing a repeat of your siggy pic, dancing in the sun. I was new to the board when you discovered Sunnie was pregnant. Danny is probably the dog whose pre-birth, birth and shortly after I know better than any other dog, even my own. I miss Danny too.

I've lost 10 Labs over the years, and I can tell you, I think about each one of them every single day. Losing them does leave a hole in your heart.

I would imagine being there for his birth made your bond with Dan especially strong. I also remember when you found out Sunnie was pregnant and you allowed the board to follow along with with the journey. It made Dan special to all of us since we were with him since his beginning.

It's hard to fathom that a year has passed already. I wouldn't even have thought 6 months. Many of us knew Dan from the sausage roll days, although I'm thinking Sausage Roll wasn't Dan. I find even dogs who have a passing resemblance to our previous dogs can really make an impression, having just seen a dog today that looks like our daughter's dog who died 3 years ago. Hugs to you on this bittersweet day.

It was Dan who was "Jimmy Dean". I'm glad that sleeping pose was a fleeting resemblance.

I can't find the Jimmy Dean pic but here's a pic showing all the little sausages. Dan's the one latched on at the farthest back...with the little white spot on his back that disappeared with age:

Sad anniversary. I also remember when you adopted Sunnie and got an adventure and a half. Bittersweet memories. So many labs from then are together over the Rainbow Bridge, including my sweet Kimber dog…

A year goes by so fast, but the memories of our loved past pets don't. Remembering Danny with you.

We remembered (and still miss) Opal's 1 year death date in April, and my head is still spinning from being without her for a whole year already.

I'm so sorry for your loss. There's that special bond sometimes. We thought we would have Zo longer and she just dropped in front of me. Probably a blood clot. It's like my brain froze. I still can't accept it.
